The Power of Keep Telling Yourself
Ever catch yourself saying something and immediately realize—damn, that’s shaping how I see the world? That’s because the way we talk—to ourselves and to others—has the power to change everything. It’s something I’ve learned firsthand, and it’s exactly what I dive into in Keep Telling Yourself.
This book isn’t just about rewriting your story—it’s about how you tell it. The words you choose. The energy you bring. The way you show up in every conversation, including the ones happening in your own head.
If you’ve ever heard me speak, you know I don’t just talk—I connect. Words matter. They can lift you up or keep you stuck. They can push you forward or hold you back. So, how do you start talking like me—in a way that moves the needle in your life?
1. Speak with Intention
I don’t just talk to fill space. When I say something, there’s a reason behind it—whether it’s to challenge someone’s thinking, light a fire under them, or remind them what they’re capable of. Every word counts. Before you speak, ask yourself: Is this pushing me—or someone else—toward something better?
2. Tell Better Stories (to Yourself and Others)
One of the biggest lessons in Keep Telling Yourself is that the stories you tell shape your reality. I don’t just share facts—I share stories that connect, stories that make you feel something. I’ve had highs, I’ve had lows, and I bring those experiences to the table because they help others grow. Pay attention to the stories you’re telling—are they empowering you, or are they holding you back?
3. Bring Energy and Emotion
Ever hear me speak and think, man, this guy is FIRED UP? That’s because energy is contagious. If you believe in what you’re saying, people feel it. Whether I’m talking about resilience, leadership, or personal growth, I bring everything I have. When you speak, own it. Deliver it with energy—because people don’t just listen to words, they feel them.
4. Be Real. Be Vulnerable.
I don’t have it all figured out. No one does. And that’s exactly why I share the real stuff—the doubts, the struggles, the failures. Because that’s what connects us. If you want to communicate in a way that inspires people, be real. Vulnerability isn’t weakness—it’s what makes people trust you. And trust? That’s everything.
5. Keep Telling Yourself (and Others) the Right Things
Here’s the deal: the way you talk to yourself matters. If you keep telling yourself you’re not good enough, you’ll live that way. But if you flip the script—if you start telling yourself stories of resilience, growth, and possibility—you’ll create a life that reflects those truths.
So next time you’re in a conversation—with a friend, a colleague, or just in your own head—check yourself:
- Are you speaking with intention?
- Are you telling the right story?
- Are you bringing the right energy?
- Are you being real?
- Most importantly—are you telling yourself the right things?
